A Tampa car accident involving four vehicles results in one woman suffering serious injuries. The incident took place at approximately 2:30 PM on Tuesday afternoon, November 10, 2009.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue Capt. Bill Wade, the incident happened at the intersection of Palm Avenue and North 21st Street in Ybor City when a woman ran a red light causing a four-vehicle car crash.
According to Tampa Police Sgt. Joseph Fish, the woman was driving a Chevrolet Colorado west on Palm Avenue when she ran the red light and slammed into a white Ford F-250. Rescue workers had to cut the woman free from her truck. She was transported to Tampa General Hospital and treated for serious injuries.
According to Fish, the F-250 flipped over striking a Chevrolet Impala and then a GMC Jimmy, finally coming to rest into the side of a building located on the southeast corner of Palm Avenue and North 21st Street.
The unidentified driver of the F-250 was also transported to Tampa General Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, Fish said.
According to a witness from Clearwater, the woman was going at least 60 mph when she ran the red light.
Police did not release the names of the other victims involved in the accident. No other injuries were reported.
The Tampa crash is still under investigation by local authorities. According to Tampa police, no charges have been filed.
