Polk County Car Accident Kills Three

Three people were killed in a car accident in the Central Florida area. The Polk County car accident resulted in the deaths of a man, a pregnant woman and an 11-month old when two vehicles crashed into one another. The crash took place on a northbound stretch of U.S. 27 near the Davenport, Florida area. The Orlando Sentinel reported that the stretch of highway was shut down for several hours.

The two-vehicle accident, which took place on Tuesday night, September 15, 2009, involved a van and a car.

According to local police, the car involved in the accident was an Oldsmobile. The van, a Chrysler Town & Country minivan struck the Oldsmobile and ejected both the mother and the 11-month year old baby from the car.

The driver of the car was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center. The male driver suffered serious injuries from the crash. The driver’s passenger, another male, was also killed in the Polk County car crash.

There were three other passengers reported in the Chrysler Town & Country minivan. A couple and their 4-month old baby suffered injuries from the Central Florida car accident. They were hospitalized, however, their injuries were not considered to be life threatening.
