A Trinity car accident involving three vehicles leaves a former Owen Sound doctor in serious condition and his wife dead. The incident took place on Monday, December 28, 2009, just north of Tampa Bay.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Elizabeth Kuruvilla, was killed due to injuries sustained in the accident. Her husband, Dr. George Kuruvilla, a long-time Owen Sound physician, suffered serious injuries and remained in a nearby Florida hospital. The couple had recently retired to the area.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Dr. Kuruvilla, had brought his 2000 Mercedes E320 to a stop at a stop sign facing south. He then pulled in front of Jacob A. Davis, 18, of Odessa, who was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The Mitsubishi struck the passenger side of the Mercedes. The force of the impact pushed the Mercedes into the front of a third vehicle, which had come to a stop at a stop sign facing north.
Rescue workers transported Davis to Community Hospital in New Port Richey and he was treated for injuries sustained in the wreck. His condition was not made available.
The driver of the unidentified third vehicle, Heather Brandon, 29, of Land O’ Lakes, suffered minor injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that she was not taken to the hospital.
The fatal Trinity three-vehicle car accident near St. Petersburg is still under investigation by local authorities.
