A Tampa auto accident involving an alleged drunk diver leaves four injured. The incident took place on Friday, January 15, 2010, on Hillsborough Avenue and 19th Street.
According to reports, James Quick, 41, of Wesley Chapel, was making a turn onto Hillsborough Avenue from 19th Street when he collided with a Ford Expedition. The Ford was heading west at the time of the accident.
A female passenger was in Quick’s Saturn and became trapped in the car. Rescue crews had to cut her free from the wreckage. She was transported to a nearby hospital and was treated for serious injuries.
The female passenger had her 7-year-old and 8-year-old daughters with her at the time. The 8-year-old was treated for minor injuries. The other daughter was not injured in the accident. Neither of their identities were released.
The unidentified driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old female, and a 26-year-old male, also suffered minor injuries sustained in the accident.
Quick, who has been reported as causing the accident, was allegedly drunk at the time and was arrested for driving under the influence.
Commuters were inconvenienced for approximately an hour as crews shutdown Hillsborough Avenue to clean-up the accident.
The Tampa accident that involved two vehicles is still under investigation by local authorities.
